Matchpoint – March 2020
I would like to start with a quick thank you for persevering with the tree incident and using the exit gate last week. As the tree was situated on the Oakmoor development site we thought it was necessary to put the onus onto Oakmoor for the removal of the tree.
Darren has done a lot of work behind the scenes meeting with bar suppliers and negotiating prices for this year. Unfortunately all of our suppliers increased their costs in January, the club has absorbed this in January and February but will increase the cost of beers, spirits and wines accordingly on the 1st March.
Chantelle has been extremely busy preparing membership renewal packs for all annual paying members recently, which you will receive in the post. If for any reason you have not received your letter by the 5th March, please ask membership services to print you a copy in club. All annual payments need to be made via cash, card or cheque before the 20th April so we have enough time to process all annual memberships and renew door cards and key fobs before the 1st May.
We are still in talks with the LTA regarding the Padel Project and as soon as we have any form of update or confirmation of funds secured we will of course update you. In the meantime, we have so far raised a total of £6000 in “10 year membership pledges” and “buy a bricks” from our current membership base. If you would like to make a pledge, please email myself stating which option. All pledges are greatly appreciated and will help towards the implementation of Padel at the club. If you own a business or know anyone who would be interested in our corporate sponsorship options again, please speak to me.
Finally notice is hereby given that the 46th Annual General Meeting of the Solihull Arden Club will be held at the Clubhouse on Monday 30th March 2019 at 8.00 p.m
Thank you most sincerely to all tennis members who ‘Opted-in’ to this years Wimbledon ballot. 195 of you did so, which is the most we have ever had, hopefully this will lead to a goodly number of tickets to put into our own ballot which will be held on Friday May 1st at 6.30pm.
Opting-in does NOT automatically mean that you will be entered into the club ballot. The sign-up sheet will be posted on the tennis noticeboard at Easter.
